R U OK Day

Found in: News

R U OK is an initiative encouraging people to reach out to their family and friends to see how they are doing. The initiative aims to boost confidence through encouraging people to genuinely show an interest in the welfare of others by  generate a sense of responsibility to regularly connect and support others.  The intention is to strengthen their sense of belonging, knowing there are people who care.

R U OK’s national awareness day is being held this year on Thursday the 8th of September and the scope is to get everyone to reconnect with someone they’ve lost touch with and to make more time for the people who matter to them.

At headspace Armadale we will be proudly supporting our friends this national day of action. Our community engagement officers will be at local schools in our community supporting the initiative and also providing tools for young people to use when a friend is not OK.

Our centre will operate as per usual, open 9am-5pm on week days. headspace Armadale provides early intervention mental health services to 12-25 year olds, along with assistance in promoting young peoples’ wellbeing. We cover four core areas: mental health, physical health, work and study support and alcohol and other drug services.

Information and services for young people, their families and friends as well as health professionals can be accessed at headspace Armadale on 9393 0300 or at reception@headspacearmadale.com.au. An online counselling service is available at eheadspace, and a suicide prevention support program can be accessed via headspace School Support.
