The Canning Data Extraction Tool (Also known as The Canning Tool) is a well-established product with a proven track record of more than ten years. It is a user-friendly, easy-to-install application used for extracting and analysing primary health care data.
The Canning Tool is owned by Arche Health Ltd and licenced by the Improvement Foundation.
The Canning Data Extraction Tool was first developed in Western Australia in 2005 by the Canning Division of General Practice. Divisions of General Practice were transitioned to Medicare Locals in 2011-2012 and the Canning Division transitioned to the Bentley-Armadale Medicare Local. The Canning Tool was originally a fee-for-licence product and was sold to 85 of 110 Divisions of General Practice around Australia.
Major Release - Version 5.4
The Canning Tool has recently been undergoing some significant changes. These changes have come about as a result of the new partnership between Arche Health and Improvement Foundation. A major version (v5.4) has now been released for download and upgrade.
What does The Canning Tool do?
The Canning Tool assists you to effectively utilise your general practice/health service data for purposes of reporting and quality improvement intitiatives.
The tool extracts data from your clinical system, aggregates it into an assortment of pre-defined measures and presents it in the form of totals and/or percentages. This allows you to monitor your quality improvement initiatives, identify areas for improvement and access accurate data for reporting purposes.
As of July 2015, the Canning Tool will also enable you to upload your data to the Improvement Foundation (IF) web portal enabling you to participate in IF quality improvement programs.
